Postnatal Yoga
Classes
“Your
life is transformed with a newborn baby, often in
unexpected ways. The experience of giving birth calls for a
new integration of your physical and spiritual
well-being.”
Francoise Barbira Freedman,
pre- and postnatal yoga teacher.
How can yoga help you celebrate this process of
transformation & integration & recover your
strength from within?
Gentle yoga poses
with your baby
Rediscover the flow of your breath
Nourish body & mind through deep relaxation
Taking the time to care for yourself
0
– 6 weeks:
During
this period it is appropriate to stay at home, and more
effective to practice short simple yoga routines that can
fit with daily rhythm. Rest is the foundation
of your well being during this time.
If during this period you would like yoga support, then
one-on-one sessions at home are more appropriate to focus
specifically on your personal needs, as well as
honoring the baby’s rhythm.
Most importantly: Breathing, sounding and relaxation to
balance, calm and energize.
6
– 16 weeks:
Joining the class
with your baby:
Re-strengthening the pelvic floor,
Realigning the spine.
Balancing poses to help regain agility. Twists and bends to
improve flexibility of your back and strengthen your
abdominals. Breathing, sounding and relaxation to balance,
calm and energize.
Other
stuff:
Classes will be
taught in English, however don’t let this deter you from
coming. Yoga is a language of breath and movement.
Class size will be limited to small groups, to allow for
maximum support and adaptation to individual needs.
Please bring a small blanket & towel for your baby.
Please wear light comfortable clothing – no
