What is your belief, religion, spiritual upholding, or philosophy of life?
Is it necessary to separate ourselves from others through a narrow worldview or belief system? Whether it is the words of Buddha, Jesus, Allah, a God, a Goddess, a mentor or Guru....where is the source of these pockets of wisdom? Is it unconditional love? A love radiating from the heart centre?
What comes out of the heart belongs to all beings - to the Universal Love that we are all connected to - to one source.
How do we define and experience this “Heart-Love” affair?
An all embracing, all encompassing openness and trusting that fills one with refreshing lightness and softness, and an instinctual desire to live in the present moment without judgement on any other being. Living with reverence.
How do we arrive in and experience this love affair?
Studying the wisdom of those who have arrived in this experience, then embodying the vibration of these words and actions through our own movements.
Moving the body in a way where we release holdings engrained in us, freeing the energy pathways through pranayama, and gradually and gently inviting the body, mind and heart to Sit. In the sitting we arrive.
To enhance the process: eating and drinking consciously, laughing and smiling a lot, embracing and being with nature - aware of the rhythms and tides of its life-flow, loving and being loved...no strain, no striving, no haste.
Words from an elder Navajo medicine man and shaman:
“In order to walk in beauty with all things, we must connect with all things. We must take them seriously, with reverence. In this way, we participate with all things and become one with them. It’s from our direct experiences with life that we encounter the timeless and learn its hidden secrets.”
What are we observing and practicing on and off our mat this month?
To sit, and watch the breath.
The Great Gayatri Mantra
“We meditate on the glory of the creator, who has created the universe, who is worthy of worship, who is the embodiment of knowledge and light, who is the remover of all ignorance. May he/she enlighten our intellect. Known as the Universal Mantra, as this mantra does not belong to any religion or any country - it belongs to the whole universe. You are representing the whole of humanity when you chant this mantra.”

Earth atmosphere heavens.
We meditate on the Sacred light of the effulgent source.
Let that inspire our thoughts. (trans. Vyaas Houston)
